Possibilities for Blacksburg

The Green New Deal is an all-encompassing plan to lessen the United States’ reliance on fossil fuels while creating a more environmentally just and sustainable society. This would involve changing a variety of institutions at a national and local level to ensure that localities can continue to run while becoming better, more equitable, and more sustainable. In order to achieve this goal, funding would be granted by the federal government so that local governments can pursue goals in accordance with the Green New Deal. For municipalities such as Blacksburg, this can be an opportunity for the local government to improve infrastructure to be more sustainable and equitable for residents. Here are some of our recommendations for New Urbanist projects that Blacksburg could use Green New Deal funding to embark on, creating a more equitable and sustainable town.
